October 20, 2020

Dear Campanelli YMCA Members,

WELCOME BACK TO CAMPANELLI YMCA, November 1st!

I am excited to announce that Campanelli YMCA membership is reopening for membership effective Sunday, November 1, 2020! We are pleased to welcome you back! Campanelli YMCA previously paused membership services effective September 1, 2020 to provide remote learning support and full day childcare for school age children while elementary schools conducted remote learning. You are probably aware that Schaumburg School District #54 reopened October 19, 2020 for in-person learning. With this news, Campanelli YMCA can now reopen spaces once used for remote learning support and revert space usage back to membership services.

Please know that Campanelli YMCA staff tremendously appreciated the outpouring of support that you have shown for the YMCA’s need to answer the call from the community to provide educational childcare assistance during these challenging times we are facing. Your health and well-being are important to us too, and we have received positive feedback from hundreds of members who expressed interest in coming back to the YMCA during our temporary closure. You will notice that some children will continue to conduct remote learning at the Y on the days they are not assigned for in-person learning. With the number of children in our facility drastically lower during the day, we can now serve BOTH children AND members in a safe manner.

Membership Details

It is important to note that your membership WILL NOT be reactivated WITHOUT your approval. Please visit our website at https://www.gcfymca.org, select the “JOIN” tab and the top of the page, and click on “Register to Become a Member Now.” You also might be wondering what you can expect from your YMCA membership while we are still living with the COVID pandemic. First, it is important for you to know that we continue to follow all Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) sanitization, social distance, and health standards guidelines. Secondly, we will continue to operate on an abbreviated schedule as all businesses are during the pandemic. The facility hours are listed below:

Facility Hours

Monday – Friday                       7am to 7pm

Weekends                                  7am to 2pm

Members are still required to abide by the CDC and IDPH guidelines: wear face masks, submit to temperature checks, sanitize hands, and social distance. To avoid any misunderstanding, we strictly enforce mask wearing throughout the pandemic…this is non-negotiable. If you choose not to wear a mask, do not visit the Y. If you are sick, please stay home until you feel better. We also require members to sanitize fitness equipment before and after individual use. You may lower your mask while utilizing a fitness station, but it must be properly affixed at ALL OTHER TIMES. We also require individuals maintain a minimum social distance of six feet between yourself and others, and wash and/or sanitize your hands regularly.

We encourage members to come dressed and ready to work out and then clean up at home, to avoid unnecessary congregating in the locker rooms. The locker room showers, dry sauna, and the whirlpool will remain shut down. Lap swim and group fitness class participation will be open through an online reservation system. Members will be allowed to enter and exit through the front doors, however, we ask that you take turns in doing so in a socially distanced manner (one person enters, and one person exits at a time). Y staff are committed to upholding a safe, healthy and respectful environment for all. Please be prepared to uphold your part as well. By working together, we can navigate the COVID pandemic safely and respectfully!

Please rest assured, that the same sense of community, family, and personal service to all remains unchanged. Our staff are the same, our family-oriented values are the same…even if we must operate a bit unconventionally. The YMCA Membership Services team members are ready to welcome you back and help you reactivate your membership as seamlessly as possible! Please contact Patty Rosone, our Membership Services Manager at 847.891.9622. In times like this, community is more important than ever. We are all in this together, as we work as a team to do our share to keep each other safe and healthy. We truly believe that EVERYONE belongs at the Y! Welcome back friends!

Very truly,

Judi Nealey, MPA
